Rishikesh Glass Skywalk 2026: Entry Fee, Timings & Complete Visitor Guide

Introduction

If you've already ticked off bungee jumping at Mohan Chatti and river rafting down the Ganga, Uttarakhand has a brand-new adrenaline kick waiting for you. The Rishikesh Glass Skywalk, suspended high above a lush valley floor near Mohan Chatti, isn't for the faint-hearted. Walking across transparent glass panels with a sheer drop beneath your sneakers tests even the bravest travelers.

I visited this engineering feat last month to test out the ticketing process, check the safety standards, and see if the views actually live up to the social media hype. Spoiler alert: they do. But getting there without a hitch requires a bit of local know-how. Let's dive right into the complete visitor guide for 2026.

Quick Facts About Rishikesh Glass Skywalk

Before you pack your bags, here are the essential stats you need to know about Uttarakhand's premier glass bridge.

• Location: Mohan Chatti village, roughly 15 km from main Rishikesh.
• Height: Approximately 130 feet above the riverbed.
• Length: Around 150 feet of transparent tempered glass walkway.
• Entry Fee: ₹500 per person for general bridge access.
• Timings: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily (subject to weather conditions).
• Main Activity: Walking the glass deck, photography, and adjacent adventure sports.

Best Time to Visit

Timing your trip right makes all the difference between a clear panoramic valley view and getting socked in by heavy monsoon clouds. The bridge remains open year-round, but specific months offer drastically better experiences.

October through March is prime time. The skies are crisp, temperatures hover around a comfortable 15°C to 25°C, and the surrounding Himalayan foothills look pristine. Avoid July and August if you hate rain; torrential downpours frequently trigger landslides on the narrow mountain roads leading out to Mohan Chatti.

Weather Guide

Pro Tip: Arrive right when the gates open at 9:00 AM. You'll beat the tour buses from Dehradun and get unobstructed photos on the glass without dozens of strangers in your frame.

How to Reach Rishikesh Glass Skywalk

Getting to the skywalk takes a bit more effort than walking down Laxman Jhula. The bridge is situated near Mohan Chatti, which is about a 45-minute drive from the iconic Triveni Ghat in central Rishikesh.

• By Air: The closest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun (DED), located about 35 km away. From the airport, hire a pre-paid taxi directly to Mohan Chatti (approx. ₹1,500 - ₹2,000).
• By Train: Yog Nagari Rishikesh railway station is well-connected to major Indian cities. From the station, rent a scooty or hire a cab.
• By Road: Buses run frequently from Delhi's Kashmere Gate to Rishikesh. Once in Rishikesh, you can take a shared jeep or private taxi toward Mohan Chatti.

Getting Around

Public transport directly to the skywalk entrance is virtually non-existent. You have three main options for navigating the local terrain:

• Scooty Rental: Renting a gearless scooter from Tapovan costs around ₹400 to ₹600 per day. It gives you total freedom on the winding mountain roads.
• Private Cab: Hiring a local taxi for a round-trip from Laxman Jhula to Mohan Chatti costs roughly ₹1,500. Negotiate the price before starting the trip.
• Shared Jeeps: Local commuters use shared jeeps from the Rishikesh bus stand toward Neelkanth. Ask the driver to drop you off near the Mohan Chatti diversion.

Top Things to Do

Obviously, walking the glass skywalk is the primary draw, but don't rush away immediately after crossing it. Pair your visit with these nearby experiences:

• Conquer the Bungee Jump: Jumpin Heights operates India's fixed-platform bungee jump just a short walk from the skywalk site.
• Try the Giant Swing: If jumping headfirst isn't your thing, strap into the giant swing for an epic pendulum flight over the river valley.
• Café Hopping in Tapovan: After your bridge adventure, head back to Tapovan and grab an iced oat latte at Little Buddha Cafe or Organic Bistro.

Hidden Gems & Off-the-Beaten-Path

Want to escape the crowds lingering near the ticket counter? Walk down the lesser-known foot trails leading toward the seasonal stream beds below Mohan Chatti. You'll find quiet rock pools where you can dip your feet in ice-cold Himalayan runoff water without a tourist in sight.

Another quiet spot is the small village temple perched on the ridge opposite the skywalk. Locals gather here every evening for aarti, offering a deeply authentic spiritual experience far removed from the commercialized ghats downstream.

Accommodation Guide

Most travelers stay in Rishikesh proper and make a day trip to the skywalk. However, staying closer to Mohan Chatti gives you front-row seats to nature.

• Hostels (Backpacker Choice): Zostel Rishikesh or Madpackers in Tapovan cost around ₹600 - ₹1,200 per bed in a dorm.
• Mid-Range Hotels: Divine Resort & Spa near Laxman Jhula offers comfortable rooms with Ganga views for ₹3,500 - ₹5,500 per night.
• Luxury Retreats: Aloha On The Ganges provides top-tier amenities, infinity pools, and direct river access for ₹10,000+ per night.

Where to Eat

Food near the skywalk is limited to small roadside tea stalls serving instant noodles and chai. For a proper meal, head back toward Tapovan or Ram Jhula.

• Bistro Nirvana (Tapovan): Incredible wood-fired pizzas and Tibetan thukpa with a rooftop view of the mountains.
• Chotiwala (Ram Jhula): A legendary institution serving traditional vegetarian thalis since 1958.
• Freedom Ganga Cafe (Laxman Jhula): Great vegan options, smoothie bowls, and uninterrupted river vistas.

Budget Breakdown

Planning your daily expenses helps avoid cash crunches in the hills. ATMs near Mohan Chatti often run out of cash, so carry enough Indian Rupees.

Packing Checklist

• Sturdy Walking Shoes: You'll need good grip for the approach paths.
• Soft Booties/Shoe Covers: The management usually requires special protective covers over your shoes to prevent scratching the glass panels.
• Valid Photo ID: Aadhar card or passport is mandatory for ticket registration and security checks.
• GoPro or Action Camera: Essential for capturing first-person video while walking across the transparent floor.
• Light Jacket: Even in summer, the valley winds can get chilly at high altitudes.

Safety Tips & Common Mistakes

Common Mistake: Wearing stiletto heels or sharp-soled footwear. Security will outright deny your entry to protect the glass surface from scratches. Stick to flat sneakers.

• Don't Run or Jump: While the tempered glass is engineered to withstand massive weight, running or jumping on the transparent panels causes unnecessary panic and violates safety protocols.
• Hold Onto Your Gear: Secure your phones and cameras with wrist straps before leaning over the railing for a photo. Dropping your phone means losing it forever into the river below.

Nearby Attractions

• Neelkanth Mahadev Temple: Located about 12 km past Mohan Chatti, this famous shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva sits at 1,330 meters altitude.
• Parmarth Niketan: Head here for the evening Ganga Aarti if you return to Rishikesh before sunset.
• Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia): Explore the graffiti-covered meditation domes where the legendary band stayed in 1968.
